About Canadian Recreational Yachting Association
Who We Are
The Canadian Recreational Yachting Association is a non-profit society incorporated under the British Columbia Societies Act. Though our Regular members are Instructors and representatives of accredited Boating schools, Students and others are invited to become Associate members.
Objectives
To increase participation and enjoyment in boating by:
- exciting more people to get onto the water and sail as
often as possible
- increasing the awareness of safety on the water
- building relationships with our partners and other
associations
- working closely with the many sailing schools to
encourage Canadian Recreational Yachting Association training.
To raise standards:
- for the power boating and sailing community in order to
develop competency to aid in the overall pleasure of boating
- to raise the profile of Canadian Recreational Yachting Association in Canada and
Internationally.
- to understand and meet the aspirations of the boating
public
Instruction
- to have Canadian Recreational Yachting Association become an important source of boating
information and training programs
- to ensure that all the programs of Canadian Recreational Yachting Association are accessible
to all
- to encourage new instructors to enter the program
- to encourage instructors to continue sailing education
by improving sailing and power boating techniques
Code of Ethics
- Students are expected to treat other Students,
Instructors, and members of the boating community with
dignity and respect.
- Students will act in a manner that will contribute to a
safe, positive and constructive learning and boating
environment.
- Instructors will provide a safe learning environment,
and will treat Students, Instructors, and other members of
the boating community with dignity and respect.
- Instructors will act in a manner that will contribute to

- Schools will provide the materials and equipment for a
safe, positive and constructive learning and boating
experience. They will also treat Students, Instructors, and
other members of the boating community with dignity and
